Review Policy & Rating System

If you are a publisher/author and are interested in contacting me about a book, you can do so at and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Bear in mind I only review adult books (excluding erotica) and sometimes middle-grade books. I do not review self-published books.

I'm no longer using a rating system here. I feel like most people just focus on the actual rating rather than the reasons behind it. What might work for me as a reader, might not work for someone else and vice versa. However, I still rate the book on my Goodreads page and for that reason I'm disclosing my rating system here as well.

  • DNF. If I don't finish a book, it will not get a rating.
  • 1 star. I didn't like the book at all.
  • 2 stars. An okey read but forgettable. Or a good read but one that wasn't for me. I could recommend it depending on the reader.
  • 3 stars. I liked/enjoyed the book. It's good. Might not be perfect but it is worth the read. I recommend it - most of my reads get 3 stars.
  • 4 stars. I freaking adored/loved the book. Almost flawless and I definitely recommend it.
  • 5 stars. A new favourite. A book I completely felt in love with. Life-changing.

Before removing the rating system completely from the blog this is the system I used:

This one means two things: I did not finish reading the book or I disliked it. A lot.

Two stars means two things as well: it could mean the book is simply okay, nothing too special. Or it could mean I like some parts of the book (therefore, I cannot give it 1 star) but others, I disliked or were annoying. Two stars doesn't necessarily mean the book is bad; but it's not something I would recommend.

3 "deathly hallows" means I liked/enjoyd the book. I could recommend it

Really liked the book. I definitely recommend it. This is my base rating. Everytime I pick a book, I start with a mental 4 star rating and depending how the book goes, my rating will go up or down.

LOVED the book. It means is a favourite. If you haven’t read it, I don’t know what you’re waiting for!
