Book Haul # 3

Christmas is a lovely time but it is also a bad one, for both my credit card and my TBR pile. I don’t think I need to explain the reasons, right? So, as you can probably tell I’m here, very ashamed of myself, to show you the books I’ve got for Christmas. All of them I bought myself using the money I received.

Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes is an adult mystery thriller about how what appears to be a very romantic and passionate relationship turns into an abusive one. I love psychological thrillers, especially about this topic and I’m very intrigued to see how this one goes since the ratings on Goodreads are quite high (4.10).

Next book is The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, an adult romance novel and it’s true I don’t really enjoy contemporary novels but is also true that I’ve only try YA ones. Maybe an adult one will change my mind? We’ll see!

Then we the Code Name Verity duology by Elizabeth Wein which consists on Code Name Verity and Rose Under Fire. Two historical fiction novels set in World War II. I’ve seen a lot of love for both books and since historical fiction is one of my favourite genres I had to give them a go.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown is another book I’ve been eyeing for quite a while and although this is a dystopian book and I’m quite tired of them the premise looks like an amazing read. The second book, Golden Son, has been released already and who doesn’t want to invest their time in another trilogy? I sure do! This one is also my pick for the R in the A-Z Reading Challenge.

I don’t really think I need to tell you about Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead but in case you don’t know it’s the fifth book in the Bloodlines series. Ignore the horrible cover please, why publishers keep doing this? That dust jacket is going away! Anyway, the last book is coming out next month and it’s finally time for me to pick up the fourth book, The Fiery Heart, and then this one to be prepared to say goodbye to this series. I don’t think I’m ready though… What am I gonna do without Adrian?

Last but not least we have Zodiac by Romina Russell, another first book in a trilogy. A story based inspired by the astrological signs. What’s not to like? Also, is my pick for letter Z in the aforementioned A-Z Reading Challenge!

There you have them. All the books! Now, have you read them? If you have, please tell me below your thoughts on them, I’d love to know. But if you haven’t read them, would you want to?

Reading Diary | February Books | 2018

Feb, 1st - 15:15. Finished the second book in the first volume of the Riyria Revelations and I was pleasantly surprised. I still think the world building is the weakest thing about the story because it's not greatly developed but the story is well-written and entertaining. I'm planning on continuing reading the series because now I'm intrigued enough to want to know how everything will unfold. Feb, 7th - 10:33.  I'm finally prepared to go and see the movie Call Me By Your Name because I just finished reading the novel. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It is a celebration of love and an exploration of sex and identity. It's quite explicit though so if you feel uncomfortable with that keep it in mind if you're planning on reading it. My full review of the book is HERE (I also talk a little bit about the movie).
