Book Haul # 1

Today I bring you my first book haul ever (well, the first I do on my blog anyways). I made some cheeky purchases this month and I wanted to share them with you. Here they are:

  • The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith
  • The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness
  • The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
  • The Kiss of Deception by Mary. E. Pearson
  • The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings
  • Fire by Kristin Cashore
  • The Canterbury Tales: A Retelling by Peter Ackroyd
  • Entre Tonos de Gris (Between Shades of Grey) by Ruta Sepetys

I've wanted to buy The Sikworm since it came out but I hadn't found a good copy until now. I'm a little bit peeky when it comes to buy books... I need them in perfect conditions. If they are not, I probably will not buy it. The Book of Life is the third and final installment of the All Souls Trilogy and even though I have yet to read the second book (Shadow of Night) I really enjoyed the first one (A Discovery of Witches) so I went ahead and bought it. Both of them I bought them at Fnac.

I heard about The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry thanks to Booktube, everyone was raving about it and is a book about books. What more do you need? The Kiss of Deception is a new fantasy book with some hype around it and the plot intrigued me enough to give it a go. Oh, also, the inside of the book has a map, a MAP! I freaking love when books come with maps inside of them. Here a sneak peak:

The Murder Complex is the first book in a new dystopian trilogy and the debut novel of Lindsay Cummings. I know about this book thanks to Instagram and I'm currently reading it and so far, so good. It is quite violent and intriguing and I like the design of it, every page has a barcode, which is awesome (picture below). Then we have Fire by Kristin Cashore, the second book in the Graceling Realm companion novels. I haven't read Graceling yet but again I keep hearing very nice things about this books and it was really cheap =P

Last, but not least, we have Entre Tonos de Gris (Between Shades of Grey), which I bought at La Casa del Libro in Madrid because it was there calling my name a.k.a I have a have a book buying problem. The same day I bought The Silkworm and The Book of Life I saw as well this beautiful edition of The Canterbury Tales, which is actually a retelling by Peter Ackroyd and it is written in prose insted of verse. In case you don't know I'm studying English Culture & Literature at University and it was a mandatory read for us. I ended up really liking the book so I want to know what Peter Ackroyd did with all the tales.

Have you read any of these? Let me know!

Reading Diary | February Books | 2018

Feb, 1st - 15:15. Finished the second book in the first volume of the Riyria Revelations and I was pleasantly surprised. I still think the world building is the weakest thing about the story because it's not greatly developed but the story is well-written and entertaining. I'm planning on continuing reading the series because now I'm intrigued enough to want to know how everything will unfold. Feb, 7th - 10:33.  I'm finally prepared to go and see the movie Call Me By Your Name because I just finished reading the novel. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It is a celebration of love and an exploration of sex and identity. It's quite explicit though so if you feel uncomfortable with that keep it in mind if you're planning on reading it. My full review of the book is HERE (I also talk a little bit about the movie).
